Just like our summary of the 2023 Tea trends, the tea market is still on the rise and continuing to grow and expand. Worldwide: in the US, Canada, Germany, UK and more, the increase in tea consumption is growing due to organic agriculture support, elevation in taste perception and eco-friendly sustainable production and packaging.
One exceptional reason and age group that is supporting this rise in tea consumption is Gen Z’s take on “snackification” (snacking throughout the day, often replacing meal for snacks) and pairing it with tea. This trend has inspired brands to encourage consumers to buy tea for their snacking experience.
In a study done by Mintel, it was found that “the traditional afternoon tea ritual revitalised to appeal to younger consumers. In Germany, for example, seven in 10 Gen Z snacks at least once a day and one-fifth of UK 18-24 snack three or more times a day, and often enjoy tea alongside snacks, offering a moment of indulgence and relaxation.”
